Travel to Zagreb and getting around Zagreb

Travel to Zagreb
Zagreb is easily reachable by air from all major airports in Europe. See Zračna luka Pleso at http://www.zagreb-airport.hr/en/ for more information.

Getting to the city from the airport
Zagreb Airport (Zračna luka Pleso; http://www.zagreb-airport.hr/en/) is located some 15 km south of Zagreb, and is reachable by shuttle, which will take you directly to the Central Bus Station. The shuttle leaves every half hour from the Zagreb Airport to the Central Bus Station and back. A one-way ticket is 30 kuna (around 5 Euro). See http://www.plesoprijevoz.hr/schedulezg.htm. At the Central Bus Station, you can take a taxi or a tram to take you anywhere in the city.

You can also take a taxi from the airport, which should cost you anywhere from 150 to 200 kuna (around 20-25 Euro).

Getting around Zagreb
There are many places in Zagreb that you can reach on foot, and Zagreb is relatively pedestrian friendly, especially around the Main Square (Trg Bana Jelačića). Most major historical attractions (http://www.zagreb-touristinfo.hr) are reachable on foot from the city center.

For more information on getting around Zagreb go to: http://www.zagreb-touristinfo.hr

Trams
The tram system is relatively good, and most areas in Zagreb can be reached by tram. There are 16 tram lines (lines 1 through 17; line 16 does not exist). Check out a map and other details on: http://www.zagreb-touristinfo.hr.
You need to buy a tram ticket, and it is best to buy it at any kiosk. A single ticket costs around 8 kuna (a bit over 1 Euro). You need to validate the ticket as soon as you get on the tram, and the ticket is valid for an hour and a half (but is valid as a one-way ticket only – you cannot use it to return on the same line). Validators that validate paper tickets are located at the front and the back of the car.
You can also buy a ticket via a text message from your mobile phone (send ZG to 8585 and you will get a message back with the ticket; you need to keep the message; it costs 10 kuna and is valid for an hour and a half in any direction).

Taxies
There are four taxi companies in Zagreb:
Cameo Taxi (http://www.taxi-cammeo.net/) (call 1212 or 060 700 700)
Radio Taxi (http://www.radio-taksi-zagreb.hr/) (call 1777 or 060 800 800)
Eko Taxi (http://ekotaxi.hr/) (call 1414 or 060 7777)

Call for papers

Abstracts are invited for individual presentations and theme sessions addressing issues of significance for cognitive linguistics with some bearing on data from the Slavic languages. As long as there is a cognitive orientation, papers may be on synchronic or diachronic topics in any of the traditional areas of phonetics, phonology, morphology, syntax, semantics, discourse analysis, or sociolinguistics. In addition to the Slavic Languages, relevant papers on other languages of Central and Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union are also considered.
Abstracts for individual presentations should be
• sent as a .doc or .pdf file e-mail attachment
• anonymous but with the author’s name, affiliation, and contact information in the e-mail message
• approximately 500 words long
• sent to  Ova e-mail adresa je zaštićena od spambota. Potrebno je omogućiti JavaScript da je vidite. , subject line “SCLC abstract submission”

Theme sessions
For the first time in the history of SCLA, we welcome proposals for theme sessions. Since we want conference participants to be able to attend individual theme session presentations, the schedule of the theme sessions has to conform with the main conference schedule. This means that the format of the theme session must be organized around 30 minute presentations (20 minutes + 10 minutes discussion) that run in parallel with the main session. Theme sessions can contain 6 - 9 slots (which corresponds to half a day or the entire day). We suggest that the theme session starts with an introductory paper by the convenor(s), which summarizes previous research, specifies the approach(es) to be taken and sets the scope of the papers to be presented.
In order to submit a theme session, please follow these procedures:
• the convenor(s) should
• submit the theme session abstract following the abstract submission procedure for individual papers. The overarching theme session abstract should also include the title of the theme session as well as a list of individual paper titles (without the names of the authors)
• send the theme session abstract and the abstracts of all papers in the theme session as a .doc or .pdf file e-mail attachment
• the authors of individual papers in the theme session should
• first submit an abstract to the convenor(s) and if accepted for inclusion in the theme session,
• submit their abstracts to the conference organizers following the abstract submission procedure for individual papers (see above). Please make sure to include the title of the theme session.
• abstract should be sent to  Ova e-mail adresa je zaštićena od spambota. Potrebno je omogućiti JavaScript da je vidite. , subject line “SCLC theme session submission”

Notification of acceptance will be provided by: May 31, 2012

About SCLC Presentations
Most presentations at SCLC are given in English, but may be in the native (Slavic) language of the presenter. However, if the presentation is not to be made in English we ask that you provide an abstract in English in addition to an abstract in any other SCLA language. Each presentation will be given 20 minutes and will be followed by a 10-minute discussion period.
We hope you will be able to join us for SCLC-2012. Please forward this call for papers to your colleagues and graduate students who may be interested in presenting or attending.
